American Youth Concert Orchestra

The Concert Orchestra is a symphonic training orchestra of trained, young wind and string players primarily of middle and early high school age led by conductor J.D. Anderson. This group works to enhance their ensemble playing and musicality through performance of symphonic arrangements of full symphonic repertoire (check out repertoire from the 2010-2011 concert season). Participation in this orchestra is often the musician’s first symphonic experience. Basic technique and artistic vocabulary is reinforced during sectional rehearsals. The AYCO provides an opportunity to continue developing the ensemble skills needed to advance to standard symphonic literature.
